Redesigning the Airport Water Bottle

A few months back, I was at the airport waiting to go to Chicago. I remember as I kid, I would be able to carry liquids through security – things have changed now. As I waited for my flight listening to my recently curated Spotify playlist, I walked to the nearest newspaper stand to get some water. The store had a bunch of bottles to choose from. It had different brands and different sizes – round, oblong, square and many more.
Then the design nerd in me started analyzing. The Fiji bottles were the prettiest but not so great for air travel. The square shaped bottles wouldn’t fit properly in my bag pocket or the aircraft seat pockets. Something more cylindrical with a smaller radius or maybe even a flatter design would be perfect for air travel given the amount of leg space we have these days. Maybe it’s time for a design change to create a flatter bottle. Something similar to the drinking flask?
